Crispy Croutons with Grainy Mustard and Garlic
Mar 12, 2020, Updated Dec 12, 2020
Just the most flavorful croutons! Tons of delicious zesty flavors.
Ingredients
- 2 cups bread cubes, about 3/4" sourdough or peasant bread
- 1 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter (I use organic)
- 1 teaspoon finely grated garlic
- 1 T. Grainy Mustard (see my recipe below!)
- 6 grates freshly ground pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375. Heat the butter in a skillet over low heat, I use a cast iron one. Add remaining ingredients, stir for 30 seconds over LOW heat just to blend the flavors. Add the bread cubes and toss very well with a rubber spatula, coating each piece.
- Place ovenproof skillet in the oven and toast the bread cubes until golden around the edges - about 15 minutes. OR , add the seasoned croutons to a rimmed baking sheet and bake. Remember to use a oven mitt removing the pan! Leave in 2 minutes less if you like your croutons a little chewy on the insides.
- When cool, store the croutons in an airtight glass container and use within 2 weeks.
- These are delicious added to so many dishes! Try my Radicchio Salad with Grainy Mustard Vinaigrette. Crumble the crispy croutons on top as well.
