Healthier to flavor and toast pita yourself. Commercial varieties have a lot of fat and preservatives.
- 2 loaves pita bread, 6″ whole wheat or white
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 1 teaspoon fresh garlic, peeled and minced
- ¼ teaspoon chili powder
- ⅛ teaspoon tumeric
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cut each pita in half around the perimeter of each pita with a serrated knife. Then, cut each in half. Now
cut each half into 4 triangles. You will have 32 in total. Spread out on a baking sheet, cut side up. Place the canola oil in a small bowl with the next 4 flavoring ingredients. Brush each pita with a pastry brush – sparingly with the mixture. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until crisp and golden. Watch they do not burn. Sprinkle with a little sea salt if desired.
